Code of Ethics, Moral Standards and Discipline
The Independent Faith Church in general does not dictate how an individual must conduct him or herself other than making an effort to live by and apply the 6 Founding Principles of the religion.
There is no formal disciplinary process within the church for what some religions consider sins. We see sin as any action or thought that works against ones personal evolution and progress toward total implementation of the Founding Principles in ones life. However, because we believe that all thoughts and actions have natural consequence, we do not believe in punishment from God or the church for these.
Ministers however are held to a higher standard and are expected to live within what is considered the lowest level of achievement where all the tenets are active in their life to some degree.
Ministers are required to abide by a Ministerial Agreement as long as they represent the Independent Faith Church. Violations to the Ministerial Agreement are reviewed by The Council of Ministers which is comprised of 3-6 Ministers presided by the Presiding Minister. Guidelines of conduct and standards are outlined in the Ministerial Agreement. Severe violations (violence, conviction of a crime involving honesty, violence, or sex) or behavior unbecoming a representative of the church can be cause for termination of the Ministerial Agreement. Termination of the Ministerial Agreement is not an act of excommunication but a consequence for behavior or actions that violate the Founding Principles and the agreement terms and may place the whole of the church at risk from legal action or other social or financial harm.
Ministers are well aware of all expectations and philosophical doctrine principles as they go through the process of preparation for the Ministry. The final qualification assessment includes a thorough understanding of what is considered unacceptable behavior while representing the church as a minister.
